ANDERSON, S.C. — A man has pleaded guilty in the killing of two people during a robbery at a South Carolina campsite last year.

Local media reported 33-year-old Randall Matthew Simpson pleaded guilty in Anderson on Monday to murder, voluntary manslaughter, attempted armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a crime.

Simpson was sentenced to 50 years in prison and was given credit for his time in jail awaiting trial.

Thirty-two-year-old Justin Williams and 25-year-old Casey Waddell were found dead at a campsite in Iva in January 2016.

Prosecutors said Williams was the intended robbery victim and Waddell was one of the robbers. Prosecutors say Simpson, Waddell and the other suspects had discussed robbing Williams and taking his drugs. The other suspects already have pleaded guilty.
