NORTH VERNON – The North Vernon Police Department will host the seventh annual Back Lot BBQ from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday as a part of National Police Week.
A special ceremony at 5 p.m. will remember fallen officers, followed by the meal.
The Junior SWAT Challenge will be back for those who are ages 5 to 12.
The free event will be in a portion of the city parking lot next to the police station, which will be roped off and filled with picnic tables for seating. People who attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as table seating fills quickly. The meal will consist of pulled pork barbecue and hot dogs along with side dishes.
Rain location will be the large shelter house near the park office.
