CANDIA, N.H. — New Hampshire State Police say a loose mattress is the cause of an accident that backed up traffic for a while on a highway.
Police say an SUV heading west on Route 101 in Candia on Thursday lost a mattress that had been secured to the vehicle. Moments later, a motorcyclist struck the mattress in the road and crashed. The motorcyclist, 55-year-old Lorena Case of Bow, New Hampshire, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, 60-year-old Karen Paulson, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, was initially unaware that the mattress fell off her vehicle, but reported the incident a short time later.
Both travel lanes were closed for a short period of time.
