FREEHOLD, N.J. — A New Jersey utilities worker is dead after falling onto an electrified ground transformer and making contact with a live wire.

Freehold Township Police say that Andrew Powers had been working near the transformer Wednesday morning, and was found unconscious when emergency services arrived. Police tell NJ.com (http://bit.ly/2qUc5MZ ) Powers regained consciousness, but died after being transported to a local hospital.

A spokesperson for Jersey Central Power & Light says the death is under investigation, and that the company’s thoughts and prayers were with Powers’ family and friends.
