Railroads update upcoming closings on crossings

The Louisville & Indiana Railroad and CSX Railroad have revised a schedule for closing crossings as upgrades continue to the rail line between Seymour and Indianapolis. Crews from R.J. Corman Railroad Group of Nicholasville, Kentucky, have been working to install high speed rail line through Bartholomew county since the weekend of April 22.

The tentative schedule, announced Thursday morning, still may change, said Andrea Janka, spokeswoman for Safety Services & Supply Co., Lima, Ohio, which is handling safety and traffic aspects of the project.

Tentative schedule:

Today: The railroads are closing crossings serving Kiel Brothers, Homer Arnholt and Meek

Saturday: County Road 550N is scheduled to close through Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning, along with crossings serving Dunlap and Industrial Drive.

Sunday: Crossings serving Kiel Brothers, Homer Arnholt, Meek, Dunlap and Industrial Drive will be closed. The crossing at Shelby Materials is no longer scheduled to be closed because a required pipe has not arrived.

Monday: County Road 550N will be paved and reopened Monday afternoon (tentatively, could be Tuesday morning) Tannehill Road’s crossing will close.

Tuesday: Crossings at Mill Street, County Road 700N and County Road 800N will close.

Wednesday: Tannehill Road’s crossing and possibly 700N will be closed

Thursday: Crossings at Mill Street and County Road 800N will be closed.
