GREEN POND, S.C. — Authorities say a body discovered in a wooded area had been placed in its location after the original crime happened elsewhere.

The Post and Courier reports (http://bit.ly/2quoJ47 ) Colleton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Tyger Benton says that a member of a logging crew found the body lying near a metal gate in Green Pond on Wednesday afternoon. Benton says the location of the body was approximately two miles (3.22 kilometers) from the Beaufort County line.

The State Law Enforcement Division is handling the investigation.
