ROCK HILL, S.C. — Authorities say three people suspected in an armed robbery are in custody after leading Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on a chase across state and county lines.

The Herald reports ( ) K9 teams from Chester and York counties sheriffs’ were also involved in the pursuit, which ended in South Carolina Thursday evening.

It began on I-77, before the driver left the interstate and drove back roads, crossing into Chester County. The suspect drove back onto the interstate, before veering off and crashing into a patrol car.

Chester County Sheriff’s chief deputy Robert Sprouse says the three were armed robbery suspects fleeing from Charlotte. He didn’t have their names or ages at the time.

Two women were arrested at the crash site, while a man was found four miles (6.44 kilometers) from the scene.
