Bartholomew County Health Department honored

The Bartholomew County Health Department recently won two awards at the Indiana Immunization Coalition’s second annual award ceremony.

Outstanding Practice and High Flyers award winners were honored at the Indianapolis Marriott North.

Outstanding Practice Award winners were nominated in one of two areas: work with toddlers (the Callie Van Tornhout Toddler Award) or work with teens (Kristen Forbes Teen Award). High Flyers awards were given in multiple categories: adult immunization provider/advocate, HPV vaccine innovative program, chronic disease care, pharmacy, innovative immunization program, immunization partnership and rotavirus provider.

The Bartholomew County Health Department won a Callie van Tornhout Infant Immunization Rate Award, and a Rotavirus Immunization Provider award.

The Bartholomew County Health Department utilizes various avenues to reach the local community about immunizations, including health fairs, billboard ads, radio awareness moments and social media. Each client is screened for immunization eligibility and recommended immunizations are discussed at each visit to eliminate missed opportunities, according to a news release.
