Edinburgh rail crossings to close for rail replacement

EDINBURGH — Nine railroad crossings through Edinburgh will close periodically beginning Wednesday and should reopen to traffic on Thursday morning.

Rails at the crossing are being replaced with high-speed rail by Louisville & Indiana and CSX railroads. Each crossing will be closed twice, once for each side of the rail. The crossings will be closed for a few hours at a time and will not be closed overnight.

Crossings on the following roads will be affected:

  • County Road 900N
  • County Line Road
  • Perry Street
  • Thompson Street
  • Main Cross Street
  • Naomi Street
  • County Road 700E
  • County Road 650S
  • County Road 775E

A detour has been set up and motorists are asked to use Center Cross Street (State Road 252) since it will remain open throughout the rail replacement process.

The schedule is subject to change without notice due to weather or other factors.
