A Columbus police canine caught a local man who fled from police when they were checking if there was an arrest warrant pending for him.
Columbus Police Officer Troy Love was patrolling in the area of State Street and Marr Road when he saw Michael E. Baxley Jr., 39, Columbus, said Officer Alyson Rech, Columbus Police Department spokeswoman.
Officers confirmed that Baxley had five Bartholomew County warrants for his arrest and Baxley took off running when he saw Love, and refused to stop when ordered to do so, Rech said.
Officer Branch Schrader and K-9 Argo began searching for Baxley, who was arrested after Argo found him hiding underneath a large bush nearby, Rech said.
Baxley was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a legend drug injection device, resisting law enforcement and the five warrants, police said.
