With demolition of the county’s oldest functioning school, Central Middle School, set to begin in three weeks, teachers and students began packing equipment, books and personal belongings for the move to a new building.

1992

Cummins Military Systems Co., a subsidiary of Cummins Engine Co., was awarded a $25 million contract to supply about 300 re-manufactured trucks to the Army.

1967

Columbus Utilities Department began chlorinating output from the city’s sewage treatment plant, at a cost of $10,000 per year, to comply with a state ordered regulation aimed at improving the quality of water in Indiana streams.
