Here is a list of Memorial Day ceremonies planned for today.
Columbus
9:30 a.m.: Tossing of wreaths into East Fork White River from the Robert N. Stewart Bridge by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard and members of the auxiliaries of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War organizations.
10 a.m.: Traditional ceremony honoring local veterans in the veterans sections of Garland Brook Cemetery.

11 a.m.: Community observance at the Memorial for Veterans on the Bartholomew County Courthouse lawn. Featured speaker will be John Walter, a B-17 bomber pilot who flew 35 combat missions over Germany during World War II. Program includes patriotic music, laying of wreaths and a three-volley rifle salute by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard. Vocalist Pam Robertson Bolton will lead the singing of the National Anthem. Retired Col. and chaplain Richard Yeaton will offer the invocation and closing prayer, and the Rev. William Weaver will perform taps. Air Force veteran John Foster will serve as master of ceremonies.
Hope area
Members of American Legion Post 229 Honor Guard will participate in ceremonies at eight cemeteries in and around Hope.
8:30 a.m.: Sharon Cemetery (which includes Jonathan Moore’s grave), east side of County Road 700E, south of County Road 300N
8:50 a.m.: Newbern Cemetery, northeast of Vine and East streets in Newbern
9:15 a.m.: Hartsville Town Square
9:40 a.m.: Hawcreek Church Cemetery, 900 E. Stafford Road
10 a.m.: Simmons Cemetery, east side of County Road 625E, south of County Road 950N
10:15 a.m.: Old St. Louis Cemetery, east side of County Road 670E, south of County Road 800N
10:30 a.m.: Hawcreek Bridge, Jackson Street (on West Jackson Street, for those lost at sea)
11 a.m.: Veterans Memorial at Moravian Cemetery, west side of State Road 9, south of Hope Town Square
