Markea Rae Waggoner, 51, of Columbus, died at 4:04 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Markea graduated from Columbus North High School in 1984, and from Indiana Business College and IUPUC in 2001. She was baptized and grew up in the Taylorsville Baptist Church. Markea enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, canoeing and track. Among her other enjoyments were softball, basketball, volleyball and spending time with family and friends.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Chuck Kennedy officiating. Calling will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Markea was born on May 22, 1966, in Franklin.

Survivors include her father, Raymon Waltz of Greenwood; daughter, Christina Brooke Waggoner of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Coldin David Wayne Jones, Kilyn Brooke Jones, Mallori Raeann Jones; aunts and uncles, Ann Sims, Rosemary (Bob) Leonard, Laretta Hoard; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Alva and Irene Waltz; aunts and uncles, Gordon Waltz, Tom (Jeanette) Waltz, Janet Harris, Lawrence Sims and Dennis Hoard; and cousins, David Shepherd Jr. and Dawn Shepherd.
