5 arrested in Jennings County on drug-related charges

SCIPIO — Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies arrested five people after serving a search warrant in Scipio.

The sheriff’s department had received information that Larry M. Nantz, 43, North Vernon, was at the Scipio property of Jacob J. Jareski, said Lt. Mike Mowery, sheriff’s department spokesman. Nantz was wanted on an Indiana Department of Corrections warrant for a parole violation, Mowery said.

At about 5 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies, Indiana State Police troopers and the Department of Correction served a search warrant in the 7000 block of North State Road 7 in Jennings County, Mowery said.

Four individuals were arrested at the address, and Nantz ran from the home on foot and was pursued by officers, Mowery said.

K9 officer Allen Ritchie and Jennings County K9 Vampir caught Nantz, who was arrested on preliminary charges of:

  • Parole warrant
  • Felony possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon
  • Felony battery on law enforcement
  • Felony visiting a common nuisance
  • Felony possession of a syringe
  • Felony possession of methamphetamine
  • Felony possession of a controlled substance
  • Felony possession of paraphernalia
  • Misdemeanor resisting law enforcement
  • Misdemeanor disorderly conduct
  • Misdemeanor possession of marijuana

Nantz is being held without bond in the Jennings County Jail, jail officials said.

Also arrested were:

  • Samantha Bott, 33, North Vernon, on preliminary charges of a felony warrant for visiting a common nuisance, felony possession of a syringe, felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
  • Alexander R. Taylor, 27, North Vernon, on preliminary charges of felony visiting a common nuisance.
  • Jacob J. Jareski, 30, North Vernon, on preliminary charges of felony visiting a common nuisance, felony possession of a syringe and misdemeanor cultivating marijuana.
  • Jennifer L. Acree, 35, North Vernon, on preliminary charges of a felony warrant for visiting a common nuisance, felony possession of a syringe, felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Acree, Bott and Taylor are being held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $2,055 bond, jail officials said. Jareski is being held in the jail in lieu of $1,055 bond, jail officials said.
