Cyrus Johnson

Seymour

Mr. Cyrus Brent Johnson, 37, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

Cyrus was born May 5, 1980, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Brent Johnson and Gail Johnson.

Survivors include his pride and joy, his daughter, Mersadi; his dad; his mom; paternal grandmother, Peggy Johnson; maternal grandmother, Doris Cooksey; sister, Misti; brother, Trent; nephews, Kaden and Noah; nieces, Lannie, Jannie and Lauren; aunts, Janet Spear, Vicki King and Christie Hague; uncles, Glen Brock, Keith Ritchie and Jim Crouch; and many cousins. He was appreciated and loved by all.

Spending time with his daughter, Sadi, always put a smile on his face.

His first venture in the business world was as owner of the Pizza Business in Garden City. The food industry was his favorite workplace until he applied for and was hired by RR Donnelley in Seymour. He looked forward to going to work every day and was very thankful to the company for giving him a job.

Cy was a master chess player, poker player and motorcycle enthusiast. Video games were his challenge in life. If he was able to spend time doing things he enjoyed most, you would find him at a pond, a lake, a river or at the ocean, swimming, fishing, paddle boating or water skiing. His favorite question-and-answer game was Bible Trivia.

He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be missed but we are ready to say our loss is Heaven’s gain.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dale Cooksey and Palmer Johnson.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Voss & Sons Funeral Service with the Rev. Ken Earnest officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Memorials may be written to the family for Sadi’s education fund.

Online condolences may be given on the funeral home website at www.vossfuneralservice.com.
