JAMESTOWN, N.D. — A woman who escaped from the state mental hospital in Jamestown has been apprehended in Fargo.

The state Highway Patrol says 33-year-old Desiree McKay escaped Thursday afternoon from a fenced outdoor area at an addiction treatment unit at the State Hospital. The patrol didn’t provide details on how she got out.

A vehicle was stolen in the area at about the same time, but authorities haven’t said if McKay is a suspect.

She was taken into custody by Fargo police at a hospital emergency room early Friday. She is jailed pending transfer back to the State Hospital.
