Historic artifacts from the old Central Middle School, the cornerstone of the Wilson building and four limestone rosettes, were stolen. The cornerstone was recovered.

The third annual Fourth of July community fireworks celebration was moved from Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds, where the event had been held for two years, to Manufacturers Marketplace just north and west of Taylorsville.

Quarter-horse racing returned to the 56th annual Bartholomew County Fair after an absence of three years.
