North Vernon man in critical condition after Jennings County accident

JENNINGS COUNTY — A North Vernon man is listed in critical condition in an Indianapolis hospital after a head-on collision at U.S. 50 and County Road 900W.

Trevor McIntosh, 37, North Vernon was driving a silver 1984 Mercedes west on U.S. 50 at 5 p.m. Wednesday when he is believed to have crossed left of center for an unknown reason into oncoming eastbound traffic, said Lt. Mike Mowery, Jennings County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

Brian Douglas, 27, of Seymour, was traveling eastbound in his grey 2002 Toyota passenger car and collided with the Mercedes, Mowery said.

The impact forced the Mercedes into the ditch on the south side of U.S. 50 where it rolled an unknown number of times before striking a tree and coming to rest on its wheels, Mowery said.

McIntosh was taken by Stat Flight helicopter to Indianapolis, Mowery said. Douglas was treated at the scene and released, Mowery said.

A passenger in the Toyota, John Lawrence Jr., 27, of Seymour was transported to Schneck Medical Center for severe but not non-life threatening injuries, Mowery said.

McIntosh and Douglas were each trapped in their vehicles and were extricated by first responders.
