Fallen Officer Blood Drive planned at Hope church

HOPE — Bartholomew County’s observance of the 11th annual Indiana Fallen Officer Blood Drive will be 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hope Moravian Church, 202 Main St.

The American Red Cross is conducting blood drives around the state in June to pay tribute to fallen officers and raise awareness about the need for blood.

The Fallen Officer Blood Drive began in 2007 in memory of Morgan County Deputy Sheriff Sgt. Daniel Starnes who was killed in the line of duty in 2001, prompting his family to begin the blood drive campaign. More than 44,700 pints of blood have been donated through the campaign, including 2,842 donations in 2016.

To make an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org or call 800-733-2767. People who are unable to give blood can support blood donations and invite others to make a lifesaving donation by creating a SleevesUp virtual blood drive at redcrossblood.org/SleevesUp.
