Sheriff’s department adds reserve officers, deputies to its ranks

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department recently added two deputies and two reserves to its force.

Cory Richard Lehman, 23, of Columbus, and Brandon Jacob Sellers, 21, Mooresville, were sworn in by Sheriff Matt Myers as new full-time paid deputies.

Lehman is a 2012 graduate of Columbus East High School and has served as a corrections officer and special deputy at the sheriff’s department since 2011.

Sellers graduated from Mooresville High School and earned an associate degree in law enforcement from Vincennes University.

Rudy Olivo and Michael McCauley also were sworn in as reserve deputies by the sheriff.

Reserves are non-paid volunteers who assist the sheriff’s department with duties ranging from road patrol to special events. They also receive ongoing training in all aspects of law enforcement functions.
