Former coach offering swimming, diving lessons

Former Columbus North swim coach Jim Sheridan will host swimming and diving lessons the rest of June.

Half-hour one-on-one individual swimming and 3-on-1 individual diving sessions will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and June 19 to 23, June 26 to 30 and July 3 to 7 at the North High School pool. Participants get five 30-minute lessons for $65.

Course hosting mixed 9-hole golf scrambles

Par 3 Golf Course is hosting mixed nine-hole scrambles at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday. Players should sign in by 5:15 p.m. Cost is $7.50 per player, and teams are selected by random drawing. All skill levels are welcome.

A new event with a mixture of formats will be played at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays at Par 3. The events are open to all skill levels. Golfers are asked to contact the Par 3 clubhouse or show up by 5:15 p.m. on any Thursday they would like to play.

Former East girls coach offers camp at Ceraland

Former Columbus East girls basketball coach Mel Good and his sons Gerad and Shawn will host the Two Good Basketball Camp from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday at Ceraland.

The camp is for boys and girls ages 6 to 15. Cost is $110 for Ceraland members and $150 for nonmembers.

East sets dates for girls basketball summer camp

The Columbus East Girls Basketball Summer Camp will be Monday through Wednesday at the school. Girls entering Grades 3 to 6 will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and girls entering Grades 7 and 8 will be from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

The camp will focus on teaching fundamentals and is directed by East coach and Indiana Basketball Hall of Famer Danny Brown. Cost is $45.

Tryouts for Express Soccer Club set for this week

Columbus Express Soccer Club will hold tryouts for its 2017-18 season Monday through Thursday at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex for boys and girls born from 1999 to 2007.

The Academy at Columbus Express Soccer Club also is accepting players for the upcoming season. The Academy is a learning-centered program for boys and girls born from 2008 to 2011 where the proper soccer fundamentals will be instilled.

Face To Face Golf Classic coming to Otter Creek

The 2017 Face To Face Golf Classic will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Otter Creek Golf Course. There will be a putting tournament at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m., and dinner is at 5:30 p.m.

Cost is $125 per person or $500 per team and includes greens fees, lunch, dinner, tee prizes and a chance for all major and door prizes. Cost for dinner only is $15. Former Purdue basketball player and current IUPUI women’s coach Austin Parkinson will be the featured speaker.

Chamber of Commerce to host golf outing

The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce will host Champions of the Chamber golf outing at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Harrison Lake Country Club.

Cost is $125 per player or $500 per foursome and includes contests, fun and interactive hole sponsors, door prizes and a chance to win the 50/50 raffle. Discounts are available for purchasing a team and tee sign.

Otter Creek to host Critzer Memorial golf scramble

The 32nd Annual Andy Critzer Memorial Golf Tournament will be at noon Friday at Otter Creek Golf Course.

Cost for the four-player scramble is $100 per person and includes lunch and dinner. Tourney Day Packages allow three mulligans and three golf raffle tickets for $25. Sponsorships are available for $750 (Platinum), $525 (Gold) and $125 (Silver).

More than $5,000 in door prizes will be awarded during the dinner program, which will feature presentations to scholarship winners Holly Anderson and Bryce Turner.

North volleyball to host skills summer camp

Columbus North volleyball coach Caitlin Greiner and her staff will host a Volleyball Skills Summer Camp June 26 to 29 at the school.

Girls entering Grades 2 to 5 will be from 1 to 3 p.m., and girls entering Grades 6 to 8 will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Cost is $50, with checks payable to CNHS Volleyball, and includes a 2017 volleyball camp T-shirt.

Hanover planning boys basketball camps

Hanover College will host two more boys basketball camps this summer. There will be a Post/Perimeter Skills Camp June 26 to 28 and a Fundamental Skills Camp July 9 to 12.

Junior golf tourney needs volunteers

Volunteers are needed for the 2017 AJGA Junior Championship at Otter Creek Golf Course. The tournament is July 2 through 6.

All volunteers receive an official tournament golf shirt, complimentary food and beverage, official AJGA lapel pin. Volunteers that work at least 10 hours also receive a complimentary round of golf at Otter Creek and an official AJGA golf hat.

Former NFL player to speak at free flag football clinic

Columbus Youth Flag Football will hold a free flag football clinic from 9 a.m. to noon July 8 at Central Middle School for boys and girls ages 4 to 13. Columbus native and former NFL linebacker A.J. Edds will be the guest speaker.

North football to host Golf For the Gridiron

The Columbus North football team will host its Fourth Annual Golf For the Gridiron outing at 1 p.m. July 21 at Harrison Lake Country Club. Registration will begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will be at noon.

Cost is $100 per player or $400 per team and includes greens fees, cart, range balls, lunch, refreshments and the chance to win prizes. Sponsorships are available, ranging from $125 to $800.
