GEORGE WEST, Texas — Seven people — five of them children — have been hurt in a one-vehicle wreck in South Texas.

Department of Public Safety troopers say a tire blowout caused the SUV to crash late Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 59 in southwestern Live Oak County.

Two of the children have been taken by helicopter to Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, about 60 miles to the southeast. The three other children and an adult were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Another adult was taken to Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital, also in Corpus Christi.

Authorities say none of the injuries appears life threatening. One of the children was in a car seat and all the others were wearing seat belts.
