James L. Crouse, 86, of Columbus, passed from this life at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Crouse was born April 10, 1931, in Markle, Indiana, the son of William H. and Hazel P. Fahl Crouse. He married Ruby I. Hadley Neier June 15, 1986.
Mr. Crouse was a 1954 graduate of Purdue University earning a bachelors degree in sales and marketing and he was affiliated with the Lambda Chi Fraternity.
He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Crouse was the National Sales Manager at Hamilton Cosco-Ransburg, retiring in 1986 after 31 years of service. After his retirement from Hamilton Cosco, Mr. Crouse was a sales and marketing representative for Quinco/Centerstone, retiring in 2000.
Mr. Crouse was a founding member of Westside Community Church and was a volunteer at Love Chapel. He served on the Board of Directors at First Call for Help and Quinco.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 31 years, Ruby; children, Michael Crouse of Golden, Colorado, Cathy (John) Mathis of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Sharon (Bill) Pinch of Arvada, Colorado; step-children, Brett (Shawn) Neier of Holland, Indiana and Susan (Jeff) Hood of Gwenville, Indiana; a sister, Marilyn Thompson of Anderson; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Crouse was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Crouse.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Westside Community Church with Pastor Dennis W. Aud officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Westside Community Church and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Westside Community Church or the donor’s choice of charities.
