Six arrested after search warrant served on Dawnshire Drive

Six people were arrested after members of the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team and the SWAT team recovered a large amount of methamphetamine and two firearms from a Columbus home.

The Columbus Police Department SWAT Team served a search warrant at 1945 Dawnshire Drive Thursday night, assisted by the enforcement team, Greensburg police officers and Indiana State Police, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers learned the people inside the home were armed, Harris said. The search warrant was the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation, he said.

Arrested were:

  • David M. Hardin, 43, Columbus, on preliminary charges of dealing in methamphetamine greater than 10 grams, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Donald R. Shirley, 53, Clifford, on a preliminary charge of obstruction of justice.
  • Colten D. Shirley, 24, Mooresville, on a preliminary charge of visiting a common nuisance.
  • Robert W. Goodin, 46, Seymour, on preliminary charges of visiting a common nuisance, possession of heroin and possession of a legend drug injection device.
  • Michael A. Goodin, 26, Columbus, on a preliminary charge of visiting a common nuisance.
  • Randall W. Garris, 45, Columbus, on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance.

Officers recovered about 50 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, heroin and two handguns, Harris said.

One of the suspects sustained a dog bite from a Columbus Police Department canine during the warrant service, Harris said.

All were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, Harris said.
