James T. Bowman, 75, of Elizabethtown, died June 19, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born Nov. 3, 1941, in Nashville, Indiana, to Earl and Fairney (Stogdill) Bowman.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Danna (Glaze) Bowman; daughter, Marilyn Bowman; three brothers, Ronald (Janet) Bowman, Darrel (Bert) Bowman and Winford (Carolyn) Bowman; a sister, Judy (Ed) Phegley; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

He served in the U.S. Army after graduating from Nashville High School in 1959. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He proudly served his country.

He was employed by Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 26 years and by Seymour High School for 16 years.

He was a long-standing member of Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour. He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. He is now at peace in the arms of his Lord and Savior.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Defriece officiating. Burial will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Valhalla Memorial Gardens, 310 N. Johnson Ave., Bloomington, with full military graveside rites conducted. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Voss & Sons and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday, June 23, at Calvary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Disabled American Vets or the American Cancer Society.
