Michael S. Lee, 64, of Columbus, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, Indiana.

Michael loved his grandchildren. Whether it was just watching the clouds, canoeing or biking, he took pride in being actively involved in their lives. Mr. Lee enjoyed all sports, along with gardening and fishing. Michael was an enthusiastic Colts and Tony Stewart fan for many years.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.

Mr. Lee was born June 15, 1953, in Shelbyville, Indiana, to the late George and Doris Rapp Lee.

He married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Townsend, on June 9, 1972, in Columbus, Indiana, and recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Survivors include his children, Anthony “Tony” (Jennifer) Lee, Nanci (Robert) Shelton and Andrew Lee, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Kaitlinn Elizabeth Lee, Parker Townsend Lee, Piper Morgan Lee, Carmyn Miah Purdy, Robert Elijah Shelton, Ceairra Danae Shelton and Haley Rachelle Shelton; sister, Sharon (Dwight) Hogg of Columbus; brothers, Dickie Joe (Linda) Lee of Edinburgh and George Edward Lee of Denver, Colorado; mother-in-law, Lucille Townsend; and several nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by sister, Joyce Ann Mote; brother, Harold Wayne Lee; and father-in-law, Forrest Townsend.
