LEXINGTON, S.C. — Authorities say a man and woman are charged in the death of a South Carolina woman reported missing last month.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said 37-year-old Lee Anthony Corley is charged with murder in the death of Alena Kennedy in his home sometime between April 18 and 21. Also, 37-year-old Harriet Leigh Coleman is charged with accessory to murder and desecrating human remains. Both were arrested without incident in Swansea on Friday and were scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.

Sheriff Jay Koon said Kennedy was last seen at Corley’s home in South Congaree on April 18. Detectives found her remains on June 16.

Coroner Margaret Fisher and forensic experts with the Richland County Coroner’s Office identified Kennedy’s remains through dental record comparison.
