Joseph Donald Cox, 76, of Washington Street, died at 10:38 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at his home.
Joseph was born May 2, 1941, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, the son of Edgar Ray and Sarah Ethel Wise Cox. He married Audrey M. Cox in January of 1965 and she survives.
He retired from Cummins Engine Company after 30 years of service. Joseph was an avid reader and enjoyed being in the outdoors, fishing and hunting.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Teike officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Interment with military honors will be at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Brown County.
Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey; son, Joseph D. (Dana) Cox of Seymour; daughters, Janet K. (Christopher) Chapple of Columbus and Joyce A. (Russell) Neville of Columbus; sisters, Edna Akers of Seymour, Doris (Cecil) Key of Columbus, Denise Lee of Seymour and Sandy (Gordon) Lambert of Scipio; and grandchildren, Ryan Chapple and David Neville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Cox and Bobby Cox; and sisters, Linda Eggersman, Nancy Collier and Sharon Smallwood.
