LAKEWOOD, N.J. — Police say a 9-month-old boy sustained serious burns when he pulled over a coffee pot in his Lakewood home.

Officers arrived at the home on Tuxedo Terrace on Sunday night.

Sgt. Michael Young tells the Asbury Park Press (http://on.app.com/2rSW5Ys ) the child sustained second-degree burns over 12 percent of his body. He was flown by helicopter to the burn center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

Young says the child’s mother was home and it appears it was an accident.
