INDEPENDENCE, La. — Authorities say a man has been arrested after his girlfriend was shot to death at a home in southeast Louisiana.

WAFB-TV reports that the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old Ollie Selders is charged with obstruction of justice. Deputies responded to a medical emergency before 11 a.m. Tuesday and found 27-year-old Letisha Rheams on the front porch of the residence with a gunshot wound in the lower back.

Livingston Parish Sherriff Jason Ard says Rheams was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Ard says an investigation is still ongoing. He says Selders’ version of what occurred is conflicting with the evidence investigators have found.

Authorities say more charges for Selders are possible.
