BRIDGTON, Maine — Officials in Cumberland County say the area will receive nearly $1.4 million in federal Housing and Urban Development grant money for projects such as home repair for seniors, fire station renovations and waterfront improvements.

The Community Development Block Grant money will fund projects throughout the county. One of the largest grants is a $400,000 award to South Portland for public services and infrastructure. The Opportunity Alliance will get $150,000 for homeless prevention.

The county says it has invested more than $15 million in such grant money over the past 10 years.
