Walker to chair study committee on elections

Sen. Greg Walker, R-Columbus, has been named chairman of the Interim Study Committee on Elections, evaluating how changes in state election laws have impacted voting in Indiana.

Walker was appointed by Senate President Pro Tem David Long, R-Fort Wayne.

When Indiana’s part-time legislature is not in session, lawmakers serve on interim study committees that review the state’s top issues identified by the General Assembly during the previous legislative session. Study committee topics are assigned by a bipartisan legislative council made up of 16 voting members — eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.

Walker also will serve on the the Interim Study Committee on Employment and Labor, the Interim Study Committee on Pension Management Oversight, the County Redistricting Commission, the Native American Indian Affairs Commission and the Military Base Planning Council.
