Par 3 Golf Course hosting needs players for scrambles, league

Par 3 Golf Course is hosting mixed nine-hole scrambles at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday. Players should sign in by 5:15 p.m. Cost is $7.50 per player, and teams are selected by random drawing. All skill levels are welcome.

Par 3 also is hosting a Wednesday Ladies League at 5.30 p.m. Wednesdays. Play will be on the back nine holes with a different format each week.

A new event with a mixture of formats will be played at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays at Par 3. The events are open to all skill levels. Golfers are asked to contact the Par 3 clubhouse or show up by 5:15 p.m. on any Thursday they would like to play.

Ex-NFL player to speak at free flag football clinic

Columbus Youth Flag Football will conduct a free flag football clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Central Middle School for boys and girls ages 4 to 13. Columbus native and former NFL linebacker A.J. Edds will be the guest speaker.

Hanover College planning boys basketball summer camp

Hanover College will host one more boys basketball camp this summer. There will be a Fundamental Skills Camp July 9 to 12.

Central Middle school sets key dates for fall sports

Central Middle School will have practices, open gyms and tryouts for some fall sports beginning this month.

Cross-country practice will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning July 10 and is recommended for anyone wanting to run this fall. Seventh- and eighth-grade football begins from 3:30 to 5 p.m. July 17, 18 and 20 at Columbus East High School and is recommended for anyone wanting to play this fall. Seventh-grade volleyball open gyms will be from 4 to 6 p.m. July 17 to 20, and tryouts will be from 4 to 6 p.m. July 24 to 26. Players must have an updated athletic physical turned in at the tryouts or to the school prior to the tryouts. Columbus North football to host Golf For the Gridiron

The Columbus North football team will host its Fourth Annual Golf For the Gridiron outing at 1 p.m. July 21 at Harrison Lake Country Club. Registration will begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will be at noon.

Cost is $100 per player or $400 per team and includes greens fees, cart, range balls, lunch, refreshments and the chance to win prizes. Sponsorships are available, ranging from $125 to $800.

Flag Football Leagues hosting benefit tourney

Columbus Flag Football League and ballout Flag Football of Indianapolis will host “Ballin for Booth,” a benefit tournament for the late Robert Booth, beginning at 9 a.m. July 30 at the PAAL fields.

Cost is $20 per player, and additional donations will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit the girlfriend and two children of Booth, who died tragically a few weeks ago.
