True blue: Colts traveling museum to visit Columbus restaurant

Colts fans have an opportunity to get up close and personal with Colts memorabilia and test their football knowledge at the Colts in Motion tour.

The 42-foot-long traveling Colts museum is scheduled to visit the Columbus McDonald’s at 611 E. Third St. from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.

The tour features several interactive sites, a Colts penny press and items worn by players Colts wide receivers T.Y. Hilton and Phillip Dorsett and Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri.

Visitors can also compare their hands to handprints of Hilton and Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.

Colts in Motion features an exhibit comparing the differences between the old Astroturf and new Fieldturf and provides details about Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where the Colts play.

So far, there has been no announcement about whether any players will make an appearance Saturday.

McDonald’s, a partner of the Colts in Motion tour, will have restaurant chain-sponsored race cars, bounce houses and special appearances from cartoon characters throughout the day. Ronald McDonald will also host a special show at 1 p.m.

Cher Nelson, a McDonald’s spokeswoman, said the event is special for communities across the state, including Columbus.

“It’s a chance for families to come together, check out the food specials going on and have a good family-friendly day,” Nelson said.

The Colts in Motion tour will make stops at several community events throughout the month of July, including the Jay County Fair and the Boone County 4-H Fair.
