Jay D. Simpson, 75, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on July 5, 2017. Jay is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Judy (McMahan) Simpson. He was born on March 27, 1942, in New Castle, Indiana, to Myron and Dorothy (Uhte) Simpson. He attended Richmond High School in Richmond, Indiana, and graduated from Donelson High School in Tennessee. He then attended Purdue University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1964.

Jay spent the majority of his career with Cummins Engine Company and its distributors. He was a member and former president of the Hoosier MGB Club. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity Purdue chapter. Jay had great memories of his time at Purdue with his band of brothers, who remain his brothers.

After joining and being confirmed as an adult at Cornerstone Lutheran Church, Jay became an active member of the congregation and enjoyed a closer relationship with the Lord.

Along with his wife, Judy, Jay is also survived by his son, Scott (Cindy) Simpson of Peoria, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Hastings of Fishers, Indiana; step-son, Scott (Dawn) Nolting of Bloomington, Indiana; step-daughter, Lori (Ken) Imel of Jacksonville, Florida; former wife, Barbara (Jerry) Behrman of Knoxville, Tennessee; granddaughter, Mia June Simpson of Fishers, Indiana; cousin, Dave Brown of Hagerstown, Indiana; seven step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Jay was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; son, Pete Simpson; and cousin, Diana Brown Taylor.

Jay was a proud Boilermaker who enjoyed cheering and supporting Purdue athletics. Jay was an avid racing fan. He attended his first Indianapolis 500 in 1953, and went on to attend 64 consecutive runnings of the 500. He enjoyed playing golf, especially outings with his Richmond friends. Most importantly, Jay loved spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Cornerstone Lutheran Church, 13450 E. 116th St., Fishers, Indiana. Calling will begin at 9 a.m. until start of service. Private inurnment will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana.
