Police arrest local man on multiple warrants after foot chase

Columbus police arrested a local man on multiple warrants after a foot pursuit.

Officers Travis Harbaugh and Andrew Plank saw Jose O. Vera, 31, Columbus, in the 9000 block of Wexford Court at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

The officers confirmed Vera had multiple warrants for his arrest and attempted to make contact with him, Harris said.

Vera began walking away and refused to follow the officers’ commands to stop, Harris said. Vera then ran around the apartment building to get away from the officers but was caught a short time later.

Vera was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, and Bartholomew County warrants for auto theft, felony resisting law enforcement, driving while suspended with a previous conviction, felony forgery and conversion.
