William D. Pittman, 81, of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017, at his residence. He was born on Sept. 13, 1935, in Columbus, Indiana. He was the son of Hershel and Martha (Fawcett) Pittman. He married Dorothy (Gilham) Pittman.

He is survived by his wife; son, William (Deia) Pittman of Madison, Indiana; daughter, Cindy Basey (John Stillabower) of Edinburgh, Indiana; half-brothers, Keith (Jackie) Perry of Columbus, Indiana and Roger (Brenda) Perry of Shelbyville, Indiana; half-sisters, Mary Baugh of Greensburg, Indiana and Virginia Lee of Greensburg, Indiana; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gregory L. Pittman; half-brothers, Robert Pittman and Robert Perry; and half-sisters, Patty Weaver and Rene Nealson.

He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He also was employed with Cummins Engine Company for 13 years.

He was a member of the Revealing Light Baptist Church in Edinburgh, Indiana and the American Legion Post 233 in Edinburgh. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, camping and watching the Colts.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2017, by the Reverend Willie Davenport at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana. Calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will be Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
