KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A 7-year-old boy has died after drowning at a hotel pool in Tennessee.

WBIR-TV reports that Knoxville police say Darshawn Martez Witt was pulled from the pool’s deep end on Sunday at Quality Inn and Suites West Waterpark. Police say on Facebook that authorities responded shortly after 7 p.m.

Police say the child was found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool and that bystanders pulled him out and performed CPR. The boy was transported to a local hospital where he pronounced dead.

Police say there were no adults with Witt at the pool, but that his grandmother was interviewed after arriving on-scene.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that a 4-year-old Georgia boy drowned at the same hotel in March 2015.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
