MANASSAS, Va. — Authorities say a man shot himself to death in front of a police department’s headquarters.

The Washington Post reports the Manassas City Police Department said in a statement that officers saw the man in front of police headquarters at around 3:40 p.m. on Monday.

Authorities say the man shot himself before officers could approach him. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

The man’s identity has not been released. Further details have not been released.
