Lela M. Newland, 89, of Columbus, died at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Following Lela’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 545 N. National Road, Columbus, with Ronnie Haislup officiating. Family and friends may call from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Lela was born May 9, 1928, in Purdy, Missouri, to the late Roscoe and Rosie Harp Miller.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Fivecoat, Sheila Robertson, Rick (Judy) Newland and David (Kathy) Newland, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Todd Fivecoat, Dawn Weekley, Jared (Meagan) Lemert, Vanessa (Dan) Brown, Ryan (Holly) Newland, Derek (Rachel) Newland, Trever Newland and Haley Newland; great-grandchildren, Mykayla (Jacob) Boyd, Aaron Weekley, Devon Brown, Collin Brown, Kira Brown, Jada Newland and Bella Newland; and one great-great-grandson, Mason Boyd.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willy Hugh, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
Arrangements were entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.
