HOUSTON — Authorities say two men are dead and three others wounded after an apparent shootout at a house just north of Houston.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the shooting began Wednesday night after an altercation near the front door of the home. During the dispute, gunfire erupted from multiple directions.

Gonzalez says all five men appeared to be armed.

The sheriff says the injured men remain hospitalized, with at least one in critical condition.

Gonzalez says deputies have not yet determined the relationship between the five people involved. The sheriff’s office investigation is ongoing.
