Free CAFO workshop coming up in Columbus

Indiana’s largest environmental policy organization is hosting a free public workshop for people concerned about the impacts of Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations.

The Hoosier Environmental Council will conduct the workshop to empower participants to be more effective in local land-use policy decisions. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 29 in the Red Room of the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 5th St., Columbus.

Participants will hear about impacts that CAFOs on air, water and communities from Kim Ferraro, senior staff attorney and director of agricultural policy for the Hoosier Environmental Council. She also will discuss the role food choices play in ensuring a healthy environment for all, and what the public can do to continue building the sustainable agriculture movement in Columbus, Bartholomew County and statewide.

Light breakfast and refreshments will be provided. RSVP at eventbrite.com/e/bartholomew-county-cafo-workshop-tickets-36063113744.
