NEW CASTLE, Del. — One child has suffered non-life threatening injuries after a school bus collided with an oncoming pickup truck.

Delaware State Police said in a statement Thursday that 15 students were on the bus. All were taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.

Police said the children were between the ages of six and 11 and attended Passion Care Day Care Center in Bear.

The crash occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Wrangle Hill Road at River Road north of Delaware City.

Police said the bus driver was attempting to turn left when she drove into the path of the pickup. Police said the bus driver, Althea A. La-Rose, was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
