NEW ORLEANS — A Louisiana man who authorities say posted pornographic images of his ex-girlfriend on the internet has been arrested.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports 28-year-old Michelob Smith was arrested Tuesday and charged with non-consensual disclosure of private images. The Louisiana Legislature outlawed the act, referred to by the bill’s sponsor as “revenge porn,” in 2015. It became law that August.

According to an arrest warrant, the woman made a complaint to New Orleans police in September 2016 following a break up with Smith in the same month. Authorities say the woman received a text from an unknown number telling her that Smith had released videos of them having sex to a website.

Smith’s next court hearing is scheduled Aug. 16. It’s unclear if Smith has a lawyer.
