CHERRYFIELD, Maine — State police in Maine say an autopsy has been completed on a woman found dead in Cherryfield, but they are not yet releasing the cause of death.

Police say they are also still working to establish identification for the woman, who was found alongside a highway on Wednesday morning. The autopsy was completed on Thursday.

Detectives on the case say they are looking for more information from people who drove by a crash site on Route 193. They say a car involved in the crash is “connected to the victim.”

Police say they’ve received several calls from the public about the case over the past day. They’re treating the death of the woman as a homicide.
