HOUSTON — The mother of a 14-year-old Houston boy who was fatally shot earlier this week during his birthday party has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in an unrelated case.

An older son of 33-year-old Ellen Breaux also is charged in the robbery case.

Breaux and her 17-year-old son, Messiah Breaux, made a brief appearance in a Houston court Thursday. Each is jailed under $50,000 bond. Court documents show they’re accused of brandishing and using a gun while robbing a man last month.

Houston television station KTRK reports detectives believe the pair are linked to more aggravated robberies. She has denied any involvement.

About 2 a.m. Monday, O’Cyrus Breaux was killed when he was shot once while sitting in the driveway of his home. His slaying remains under investigation.
