AUBURN, Wash. — A man and a young child died in a fire at an apartment building in Auburn.

KOMO reports ( http://bit.ly/2uf2RLV ) that authorities responded to the blaze about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Auburn police arrived first and tried to evacuate the building. According to Valley Regional Fire Authority, one man and a 4-year-old boy were unable to escape the fire and were found dead on the second floor of one of the units.

The Red Cross is assisting the total of four families who have been displaced by the fire.

It is unclear where the fire actually started, and the cause is under investigation.
