Movie series kicks off Saturday downtown

The Columbus Young Professionals will present the first of its three summertime free Moonlight Movies from the 1990s at dusk between 9 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday outdoors at Columbus City Hall, 123 Washington St. downtown.

“Independence Day,” the 1996 film starring Will Smith, will be shown. Smith plays a leader of a group of people who converge in the Nevada desert in the aftermath of a worldwide attack by an extraterrestrial race of unknown origin.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food and drink will be available for purchase. The Garage Pub & Grill will provide a cash bar.

Moonlight Movies marks CYP’s first collaborative program with the Columbus Area Arts Council, Exhibit Columbus and Heritage Fund — the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County.
