HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — One of the Republican leaders of the West Virginia House of Delegates has launched a campaign for the congressional seat currently held by Rep. Evan Jenkins.
Jenkins, also a Republican, is running for the U.S. Senate.
Media report (http://bit.ly/2uhDxmK ) that Carol Miller, the House majority whip, emphasized her 11 years of legislative experience and her family’s public service record in announcing her bid for Congress.
Her father, Samuel Devine, was a congressman in Ohio, where Miller grew up.
Others who have announced they are running for the seat in next year’s election are state Delegate Rupie Phillips and Dr. Ayne Amjad, both Republicans, and Huntington Mayor Steve Williams, a Democrat.
