First Baptist — The Rev. Dan Cash will deliver the message, “Growing Young: “Priorities — From Rhetoric to Reality,” with Scripture from Mark 10:13-16 at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 3300 Fairlawn Drive. Music worship will be led by a quartet. Childcare is available for infants. Older children will leave during the service to discuss “Zacchaeus,” as found in Luke 19:1-10.

Classes for all ages will begin at 10:45 a.m. Children will discuss “Ten Bridesmaids” with Scripture from Matthew 25:1-13.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Flintwood Wesleyan — Sunday service times are Amplify (non-traditional) at 9 a.m. and The Well (traditional) at 11 a.m. in the main sanctuary of the church, 5300 E. 25th St. Sunday School classes at 10 a.m. in their regular rooms. The Prayer Team will meet at 8 a.m.

The Prayer Team will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Adult Bible study will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary.

GLOW (formerly JAM) will begin with supper at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 9.

First Presbyterian — This weekend’s sermon, “Wheat and Weeds,” will reflect on Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43. Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. at the church, 512 Seventh St., Columbus. Infant and toddler care is available from 9:15 to 11 a.m. The Men’s and Women’s Support groups meet at 7 a.m. Fridays and a second Men’s Support group meets at 6:15 a.m. every Monday.

People in need of a meal are invited to the Hot Meals program at 5 p.m. Friday with entrance through the glass doors on Franklin Street.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Pastor Kirby Rupp will deliver the message, “Weeds Among the Wheat,” at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church, 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh. Scripture will include Genesis 28:10-19a, Romans 8:12-25 and Matthew 13:24-30. Sunday school begins at 9 a.m. with Fellowship at 9:40 a.m.

East Columbus United Methodist — Fellowship begins at 9 a.m. in the foyer of the church, 2439 Indiana Ave., Columbus. The Morning Blended Worship service begins at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Charles Aigner will deliver the message, “Stories That Jesus Told: Where Will You Eat Your Next Meal?” from the Book of Luke. Young children will receive a special message before being dismissed for Children’s church. A staffed nursery/toddler room is available during the morning service. Sunday school will begin at 10:40 a.m. for all ages and Bible interests. Sunday Evening Chapel service begins at 6 p.m. and the Rev. Aigner will deliver the message, “Real Power,” from II Kings.

Tuesday Bible study will meet at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. Wednesday Evening Bible study will meet at 7 p.m. in the Chapel.

Petersville United Methodist — The Rev. Ed Scherer-Berry will bring the message, “The Well of Bitterness,” at the 9 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 2781 N. County Road 500E. Scripture will be from Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43. Deborah Loper will serve as liturgist and Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon. Andrew Green will be singing a song from Mercy Me.

The Walking group will meet at 9 a.m. Monday and Wednesday at the church, and the prayer meeting is at 10 a.m. Thursday with Barb Hedrick as leader.

Pastor Stormy Scherer-Berry and her daughter Kezia will return Tuesday from their mission trip to Uganda.

Administrative Council will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 2. The Fruitful Congregation Journey Team will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 9, discussing a discipleship plan.

First United Methodist — The Rev. Howard Boles will give the message, “The 1990s/2000s: A Faithful Church,” during the 9 a.m. traditional and 11 a.m. contemporary services Sunday at the church, 618 Eighth St., Columbus. Scripture will be 1 Peter James 2:1-10.

A church picnic will be held at 11:30 a.m. July 30 at Donner Park, 22nd Street in Columbus. A unified service will be held at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

The August Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 to discuss the “The Stonecutter’s Aria” by Carol Faenzi. The author will be be present for the discussion.

Westside Community — Associate Pastor Robert Vester will lead the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 124 Tipton Lakes Blvd., Columbus. The children’s program meets during the service.

The six-week women’s small group, led by Barbara Gardner, meets from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesdays at the church. Bring your Bible.

The youth, for middle and high school students, will celebrate the final week of summer vacation with a day of fun at Holiday World. Sign up through Sunday at the church.

There will be an ice cream social from 4 to 6 p.m. July 30 at the church.

Flintwood Wesleyan — The second annual Building Hope 5K Run/Walk will be Aug. 19. Pre-event activities begin at 7:30 a.m. at the church. Registration and sign-in begin at 8 a.m. and the marathon starts at 9 a.m. Pre-register: fbccolumbus.org. Registration fee: $25/adult and $15/children 12 and under. If you don’t order a T-shirt, the fee is $5 less.

Central Heights Church of God — The church is having a garage sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, 3151 Sharon Lane, Columbus. Everything will be 25 cents. This is a fundraiser for the church to help the youth group.
